I am a non-binary, interdisciplinary artist trained in theatrical lighting design and dance. Since losing my father at a young age, I have known that life is temporary. That knowledge drives me to create meaning in my own life. I am a theatre artist born from the ashes of lives lost too soon. Continuing to make theatre is how I honor the legacies of those who have gone before.
I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre and Dance from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a minor in dance from Samford University. In January 2020, I designed and performed a twenty-minute solo dance performance as my thesis project. While dancing, I controlled the lights using a combination of video game movement tracking technology and a remote lighting control app. In the performance, I explored my identity as a non-binary lighting designer and dancer. I am continuing this exploration in my creative work and actively honoring my non-binary identity in my artistic practice.
